Read Across America
Read Across America Day is a national day celebrating reading--this year on Monday, March 3, 2014. Here in the San Ramon Valley we have added our own flair that captures the spirit of Dr. Seuss. Community members signed up to be a guest reader at Hidden Hills Elementary School so "Grab your Hat and Read with the Cat." This year's selected book for Read Across America is, The Day the Crayons Quit, written by Drew Daywalt and beautifully illustrated by Oliver Jeffers.
Soul Shoppe Parent Training
Join our own Daniel Bruno from SOUL SHOPPE for a very special presentation on powerful communication tools to help resolve conflicts on Tuesday, March 4th from 7:00-8:00 pm in the MPR at Live Oak Elementary.
This would be perfect for those parents that missed our Parent Night in the fall or those of you who would like to continue to reinforce the soul shoppe strategies your students are learning here at Hidden Hills!
Following are some topics that will be discussed:
- How bullying and other hurtful behaviors are impacting schools and what Live Oak and Soul Shoppe are doing about it
- Peacemakers: Our peer conflict resolution program
- How we empower students to be “Allies” and stand up for each other
- Skills to handle conflict and communicate more powerfully and effectively at home and at work
- Discipline strategies that work
- Ways to stay connected to your children as they head for middle school
Please bring the whole family. Childcare for TK-5th grade will be provided. Sign up here.
